This really quick effect converts a photographic image into small daubsof color similar to those seen in an impressionist painting. It works beston images with clear, recognizable structures, such as landscapes or stilllife photos.
Start by opening a photographic image in PSP. The image shouldhave a wide range of color values. Here I've used a picture that I tookof the French Memorial Chapel, on the campus of .

Set your foreground color to white and apply a Hot Wax Coating to yourimage (Effects > Artistic Effects > Hot Wax Coating.) You'll getsome very dark outlines as a result.

Apply the Dilate filter to your image twice (Effects > Edge > Dilate.)This will remove the dark outlines and begin to break up the image intodashes of color.

Finally, apply the Sharpen More filter twice (Effects > Sharpen > SharpenMore.)

To complete the image, simply increase the saturation to make it morecolorful (Colors > Adjust > Hue/Saturation/Lightness.) Here the saturationwas set to 25.
