Start by opening a new file, about 450x150 pixels, 16 millioncolors with a white background. Add some text in black. The effect worksbest with a wide font that has plenty of spacing between the characters.This is Arial Black, 72 pt.
 
 
 

Go to Selections, Modify: Expand. Expand your selection by 3 pixels.You should see the marquis around your selection move out.
 
 
 
 

Now blur the text a bit. Go to Image, Blur: Gaussian Blur. Set theRadius to 2.00.
 
 
 
 

Next we apply the embossing filter to get the 3D effect. Go to Image,Other: Emboss.
 
 
 
 

To create the textured effect, add a new layer (Layers: New) andset the Blend Mode to Overlay. Load your desired texture into PSP, clickon your flood fill tool, and set the Fill Style to Pattern.  In theFlood Fill Options menu, set the Blend Style to Normal and the New PatternSource to your texture. Use the Flood Fill Tool to fill each letter.
 
 
 
 

Merge your layers (Layers, Merge: Merge All) and add a drop shadowto complete the effect. (Image, Effects Drop Shadow. Set Vertical and HorizontalOffsets to 5, Blur to 10, Opacity to 88, and color to black.)
 
 
 
 

If the Texture is not as clear as you would like, go to Image, Sharpen:Sharpen More. That should make it much clearer.
 
 
 
 

Any type of pattern can be used with this effect, and the resultscan be incredible, especially considering how simple the technique is.
